오늘 포스팅할 팝송은 WALK THE MOON의 Shut Up and Dance라는 곡이에요. 제가 이 곡을 처음 알게 된 건 바로 "출발! 비디오 여행" 프로그램의 오프닝에서였어요. 오프닝을 보면 아나운서가 멘트하면서 프로그램이 시작되는데요.
바로 이 부분이에요. 멘트할 때 배경으로 깔리는 음악이거든요. 노래를 찾고 싶은데 도통 알 수가 있어야죠. 자세히 들어보니 "Shut Up and Dance"라는 게 들려서 찾게 됐어요. 제가 들었던 부분이 제목이라 정말 다행이었죠.

Walk The Moon 소개Walk The Moon은 신시내티 주에서 결성된 록밴드이다. 리드 싱어인 Nicholas Petricca가 2006년 밴드를 결성하였고, 여러 멤버 교체가 있은 뒤 2010년 현재의 멤버들로 정착이 되었다. Walk The Moon이라는 밴드 이름은 더 폴리스의 Walking On The Moon에서 유래되었다.2010년 11월 셀프 릴리즈한 I Want! I Want! 앨범으로 데뷔하였으며, 수록곡 '"Anna Sun'''은 에스콰이어지의 "30 Summer Songs Every Man Should Listen To"라는 기사에 실림으로써 유명세를 얻게 되었다.공식 메이저 앨범 데뷔는 2012년 Walk The Moon 앨범을 통해서이다. 상술한 Anna Sun 또한 여기 실려있다. 메타크리틱은 이 앨범에 67점이라는 점수를 주었다. 이 앨범에는 I Want! I Want! 앨범의 수록곡이 들어있다.2014년, 이들은 2집 Talking Is Hard를 내게 되는데, 리드 싱글로 내놓았던 Shut Up and Dance이 대박을 치게 되면서 유명세를 얻게 되었다. 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서 4위를 차지하고, 호주, 캐나다, 독일, 이스라엘, 폴란드 등 각국의 차트에서 1위를 차지하는 등 전무후무한 대박을 치게 되었다. 그러나 이것이 원 히트 원더로 끝날지도 모른다는 팬들의 우려가 있다. 우려대로 2017년 발매된 3집의 리드싱글 'One Foot'이 빌보드 65위를 기록하며 흥행에 부진했다. 하지만 인기와는 별개로 수록곡들이 좋은 퀄리티라고 평가 받고 있어서 거품이라는 의견은 얼마 없다.아이언맨 3 OST - Heroes Fall에 이매진 드래곤스 등 여러 아티스트들과 함께 이름을 올렸다. 워크 더 문은 Big Bad Wolves를 올렸다.출처 : 나무위키
Shut Up and Dance 이 곡이 2014년에 발매한 곡이니 생각보다 오래된 곡은 아니에요. 전 처음 들었을 때 거의 90년대로 생각하고 있었거든요. 어제 애인님과 신발을 사러 반스 매장에 갔었는데 이 곡이 나오더라고요.
포스팅 때문에 정보를 찾다 보니 이 곡이 만들어진 계기를 알게 되었는데요. 보컬인 닉 페트리카가 나이트클럽 바에서 술을 마시고 있었고 흘러나오는 노래들이 자신이 만든 노래보다 더 멋진 노래들이었고 이 사실에 좌절해서 클럽을 뛰쳐나가려고 했는데 당시 여자친구가 춤이나 추자고 무대로 이끌었다고 해요. 그렇게 영감을 얻어서 만든 곡이라네요.
